The aim of the Kreativ-Transfer funding programme 2019-2025 has been to support professionals in the fields of the performing arts, visual arts, and games in establishing and expanding their international networks to improve their visibility on the international market. The programme supported the necessary international marketing and networking measures as well as the corresponding training and professionalisation of the stakeholders.
In the field of games, the Kreativ-Transfer program offered developers and representatives of game development studios and teams the opportunity to apply for travel cost support to attend trade fairs. This allowed them to showcase their projects, expand their international network, strengthen existing contacts, and establish new ones. Additionally, the program also supported strategic projects for international marketing, networking, and professionalisation.
In the field of games Kreativ-Transfer and the German Dance Association (DTD) cooperate with the game – Verband der deutschen Games-Branche.
As the programme is due to expire at the end of 2025, there are currently no new calls for applications.
Kreativ-Transfer has supported participation in international art fairs and festivals. Additionally, the program also supported, to a lesser extent, strategic projects for international marketing, networking, and professionalisation.
The funding was provided as lump sum grants, and no own or third-party funds need to be contributed. The funding could be requested up to certain maximum amounts, but only actually incurred costs were eligible for funding.
Applicants indicated in their application for which events or strategic project they were requesting funding. Applications for group trips were excluded. Events and strategic projects were considered generally eligible for funding if it could be demonstrated that specific goals, defined in the respective calls for applications, could be pursued.
Applications were welcome from game developers and representatives of game development studios / teams who (1) have their current headquarters in Germany, (2) have no more than 20 permanent employees, (3) operate independently of large companies as well as (4) are not yet in a financial position to present themselves at important events (so-called "indies").
Open Calls were published via our website as well as through our Kreativ-Transfer-Newsletter and by our program partner, the game – Verband der deutschen Games-Branche.

'Your commitment to the creative industry is highly commendable. Kreativ-Transfer helps small businesses, particularly creative professionals, to seize opportunities with less financial risk. Thank you!'
Utz Stauder – Ludopium
'Every trip that I have taken with the support of Kreativ-Transfer has been one of the most important and memorable experiences that I have had, both professionally and personally. As a small business owner in an industry that stumbles from one crisis to the next, I would never be able to cover the costs of travel and events alone. However, participating in events and networking has proven to be indispensable for success. I am therefore extremely grateful to have received this support.'
Nicole Schneiderwind – Spoonful Games GmbH
'We are very grateful to you for this funding program. It makes a significant and noticeable difference, especially for small teams. The doors and opportunities that you are opening for these teams are simply amazing, and we hope that this program will continue running, allowing other developers to benefit from it for a long time to come.'
Yves Masullo – Smoke Stab
Accompanying the travel cost support, workshops, information sessions, and informal get-togethers are offered to support professional preparation and follow-up, thus promoting an inspiring and sustainable participation in these events. The workshops, information sessions, and get-togethers are primarily connected to existing events organized by the program partners. They are aimed at the supported individuals as well as other interested parties and serve as platforms for exchanging know-how and experiences among colleagues, as well as knowledge transfer through invited experts.
During these events, handouts, sample documents, and summaries are produced, which are subsequently made available. They serve as tools and references to provide a solid knowledge foundation for the supported individuals and other interested parties.
